I’m excited to be a guest presenter at the Fit & Fine 2012 Health & Wellness Conference in Chicago on Feb. 25th, sponsored by IMASTERY Institute.

Join us for information, inspiration and connections! http://fitandfine2012.com/

2:30PM

Title of Presentation:

SHINE Forward: How Extraordinary Goals Are Achieved

Overview:

Giving and getting feedback has long been considered to be an essential skill for supporting personal growth. As we strive to achieve our goals, we want and need to know how we are doing. We need to know if our performance is in line with expectations. We need to learn what we have done well and what we need to change. Traditionally in organizations, this information has been communicated in the form of “downward feedback” from leaders to their team members and “upward feedback” with the advent of 360 degree multi-rater assessments.

But there is a fundamental problem with all types of feedback: it focuses on the past, on what has already occurred—not on the infinite variety of opportunities that can happen in the future. As such, feedback can be limited and static as a personal developmental tool, as opposed to expansive and dynamic.

SHINE Forward helps us envision and focus on a positive present and future, not a failed or less than stellar past. We use a proven model of innovation to “FeedForward” and “The Bigger Game” which challenges us to become our most positive best and calls us to SHINE Forward into new frontiers of growth and success never thought possible.

For optimal success in working The Bigger Game, you must:

have a “dream team”

get out of your comfort zone

always include a “Gulp”

have a compelling purpose

plan, commit and invest

take ongoing BOLD actions

feed a burning hunger

assess and recalibrate your plan

take action to sustain yourself as well as your goal

SHINE Forward defines where you are today and provides clarity and tools for what to do next. Are you ready to SHINE Forward and play YOUR Bigger Game?

Objectives:

Obtain an overview of the 9 elements of The Bigger Game Model

Practice providing “feedforward”

Explore the four types of comfort zones that could be holding you back from reaching your goal

Discover steps to identify your compelling purpose that beckons you to obtain success never thought possible

Audience: Individuals, Teams and Organizations

According to Tony Robbins, we all are in need of six things:

1- Certainty

2- Variety

3- Significance

4- Connection/Love

5 – Growth

6 – Contribution

On Valentine’s Day, we might naturally think of Love/Connection. So what is LOVE? What is CONNECTION? How will you know you have one or the other or both?

It is easy to LOVE someone when the sun is shining and all things are going your way. But when the life serves you lemons and there is no way to make lemonade out of those lemons, it is then that you understand who are your champions…who are your cheerleaders…who are true friends/partners in life. Those that bale when conflict or adversity or pain happens, are not the long-term partners that can provide LOVE and connection. Those fair-weathered friends are looking out for THEIR best interest, not yours.

On Valentine’s Day, give your TRUE friends a kiss and hug, even if it is a virtual one, so they know you LOVE them and the connection between you is REAL.

International Coach Federation – 2012 Midwest Regional Conference – June 21-23rd

THEME: Coaching: Celebration, Collaboration, Connection! Raising the Bar!

Opening Evening Reception: Thursday, June 21, at 7:00 p.m.
Conference: Friday, June 22 & Saturday June 23, 2012

The Midwest Regional Conference is Raising the Bar! on what a conference can really be. We are expanding our scope of possibility with “out of the box” ideas that will make this the most exciting coaching event in the states this year. It is the place to gain CCEUs, create coaching connections, and grow their coaching. Why not have it all in Chicago at The Rosemont Hilton Hotel.

Keynote Speaker is David McNally!

David McNally is among an elite group of recipients—only 186—of the Council of Peers Award for Excellence (CPAE) and Speaker Hall of Fame by the National Speakers Association (NSA). His knowledge of what inspires people has been commended by people such as NBA coach, Pat Riley, golf superstar, Greg Norman, CNN host, Larry King, as well as hundreds of executives from many of the world’s most successful companies. Abbott Labs, Ameriprise Financial, Inc., Gartner, Merrill Lynch, Northwest Airlines, Inc., Pulte Homes, and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, are but a few of the many distinguished organizations that have embraced David’s work as a key component of preparing their employees for an ever increasing competitive and complex future. David McNally’s mission is straightforward and clear: To provide people with the knowledge, skills and inspiration to perform at their best.

Additionally, David McNally is the author of two best selling books, EVEN EAGLES NEED A PUSH – Learning to Soar in a Changing World and THE EAGLE’S SECRET – Success Strategies for Thriving at Work and in Life. His co-authored book, Be Your OWN Brand in its second edition, brings new meaning to the concept of the brand promise. David’s latest co-authored book is EVEN EAGLES NEED A PUSH – The Power of Encouragement. An award winning film producer, McNally has produced two highly praised, inspirational films, The Power of Purpose and If I Were Brave.

Now is the time to be a part of this unprecedented event.

Quality of Organizational Leadership

The Standish Group 2009 CHAOS Chronicles, an ongoing international study of 15,000 IT projects, shows a decrease in project success by:

32% of all projects are delivered on time / budget

44% of projects are late, over budget, or with less than the required features and functions

24% of failed projects are cancelled prior to completion or delivered and never used

These results represent the highest failure rate in over a decade! The vast majority of this waste is avoidable by using strong organizational leadership.

Leadership Development

Leadership is a greatly debated, and possibly marginally understood concept. Are leaders made, or born? Why do people choose to follow certain leaders even when it may prove very harmful to them personally? Are management and leadership skills synonymous? Are all managers, leaders and vice versa? And why do such leaders have such dramatically different styles? Ghandi and Patton were both great leaders, but their styles could not have been more different. Ghandi was a strong believer in non-violence, while Patton led an army bent on the physical destruction of the enemy.

One thing that everyone agrees on is the concept of leaders needing followers. John Maxwell states, “If you think you are leading, but no one is following, you are really only taking a walk.”
