What does my Diva side look like?

I’m wanting to explore more sides of who I am. One side is the Diva side that begs to be let out.

In my pursuit of getting recertified as a coach and working on advanced coaching techniques, I have engaged in working with a mentor coach. I like to think of a coach as a “thought partner” when trying to work towards a goal or work through an issue. Ben helped me think through my burgeoning thought that I need to re-engage my Diva side. For many reasons, I let my Diva become too quiet and I need her to re-emerge and become fully present in my life.

So what IS a Diva? The definition of a Diva depends on who you ask. I have a sign hanging on my wall, given to me by a fellow Diva, which defines my definition.

My sign says that a Diva is:

1. A term used to describe a woman of rare, outstanding talent. Marked by extraordinary elegance, dazzling beauty, and magnificent splendor: Someone who is fabulous

2. Queen of her domain.

3. A woman who possesses an extremely engaging and attractive “devine” personality

So what does being a Diva mean for me?  First of all, I wanted to notice what does my Diva look like? At first I thought that a Diva might have a tiara with lots of sparkly bling. But the more I thought about what the tiara would look like, the more I realized that my version of a Diva might wear some bling but she doesn’t wear a tiara.

My version of a Diva is much more like the statue someone gave me years ago. With a microphone in my hand and my décolletage pushing out, I am certain and clear. My brain and hair is full of electricity and my hands are stretched out allowing all energy to be explored and used.

The Diva is my alter ego. Who is your alter ego? What part of you is the visionary who leads you towards the fullest expression of your life?

  1. Does your diva have shoes?

    • Yes! You are right. I need to show my shoes so I can step more fully into the Diva! See updated picture!

  2. So is it fair to say that all diva’s should wear shoes, and women that do not, but claim to be diva’s would be false divas?

    • I would not want to include a “should” in how a Diva should dress but certainly, wearing shoes does complete the ensemble. And since I live in a city which has 6 months of cold weather, shoes are a must have during the cold months.

The other part of your question that begs to be answered is that is there such a thing as a “false diva”? Yes, I do believe there are many false divas and not because they don’t wear shoes. I believe a false diva is one who is not clear about who they are and what gifts they uniquely possess and therefore copies what others have created and calls it their own. I knew a false Diva that claimed every product and book she produced just popped right out of her own head. If she wanted to use someone else’s information, she just “reworded” it and claimed it was hers.

I can claim My Diva as “mine” because she is my creation and at my beckon call. She possesses my unique experiences, thoughts and talents. I can call her forth when I want and need her to be fully present. AND she can wear or not wear whatever shoes I so desire.
